Interview to Norbert Csorba

Chelsea Rovers´s manager wants to finish the season in the top-3 of the Surrey South Eastern Combination League, but without resorting to the three in the back system that has been used in most teams since Euro 2020. Norbert Csorba reveals that professional clubs could invest more in amateur football.

What are the targets for the current season in the Surrey South Eastern Combination league?

We aim to secure ourselves in the top 3 of the table for the 2021/22 season and build upon the established club football philosophy by hopefully bringing in another man's team and a children's football academy.

Which opponent is the most capable of preventing the achievement of the objective?

Shelhurst FC and Richmond & Kew FC seem like a well established team this season, but overall the teams in the league are new so anyone can surprise us.

What are the main developments of the team since the beginning of the season?

Great Coherency and chemistry has been built up with a clear direction and vision that is a day to day progress.

Under what circumstances throughout the season it will be necessary to use a system with three defenders?

Probably not, as we do not have the time to train multiple tactics at our level, thus we rather maximise our strengths, instead of practicing the 3 in the back.

Local rivalries are the main characteristic of amateur football?

Yes and no. I think it really depends on the club and management that runs it and their approach towards the game.

What kind of changes will be needed to develop amateur football in England?

Not sure about England in overall but London struggles with pitches when it comes to space and even the quality as well. I think major clubs in the Premier League, Championship etc, should invest more in their local communities by building more football pitches for the locals and the amateur clubs. Amateur coaches are very underpaid or not paid at all, meaning there are only a few with adequate qualifications as coaches spending their hard earned free time to manage and run these clubs. More Futsal to be implemented in order to produce higher quality technical players in the UK.

The current system benefits the ambition of the teams that want to achieve the national championships?

The system only benefits the ones who have the money, like everything else in life.

Do you believe that there will be changes in amateur football, similar to what is going to happen in the professional leagues?

Changes will always happen and they will always be there, the question is who will be able to adapt to them!? They say the ones who adapt survive.
